As a general question for modeling CLV, should I use all of the available data (around 5 years) or just use some recent data (recent 2 years) to build the Pareto/NBD model?
The data is from a jewelry retailer, and the mean inter-purchase time is around 5 months.
I have read "Counting your customers: who are they and what will they do next" paper in 1987 and it suggests using the recent 2 years data. I am not sure this is appropriate in my situation.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
