Taskwarrior close to 3.0 release

Hei,
it seems like taskwarrior is close to the 3.0.0 release 1, which does include a major change in how the tasks are stored and also abandons taskserver.

Would this change also be possible to be used with Foreground?

From the README it looks like Foreground doesn't necessarily use the Taskwarrior CLI, except as a way to get to the underlying set of tasks. It may be that building a JNI interface to Taskchampion, and using that directly, is the most efficient route to sync'ing with other Taskwarrior replicas.

So for now Foreground doesn't work with new sync server?

I assume so, at least the current user interface settings for the sync server can not work with the new sync server, as there is still the handling with the certificates etc. also the taskwarrior-java-client is for the interaction with taskd, which is not compatible with taskwarrior 3.0

Is there another branch/repo with a new java client we can help with? I really want to use sync features 😁

I am not really aware of a java client to be honest.
The taskchampion-sync-server can now be found here, maybe its possible to call some API from Java or so.

For those subscribed to this issue: I will not be developing Foreground anymore, and Foreground will not be updated to support Taskwarrior 3.x. You can read the full announcement here.

I'll leave this issue open in case anyone wants to try to make Foreground compatible with 3.x.
