Jason Binder

Hi, I’m Jason Binder — a data analytics professional and graduate student in Georgia Tech’s Master of Science in Analytics program. My work focuses on applying statistical modeling, machine learning, simulation, and data visualization to complex real-world problems at the intersection of business, public policy, and community development.

With prior experience in finance, local government, and nonprofit leadership, I bring a practical, decision-oriented perspective to analytics. My academic training includes analytics modeling, data mining, statistical learning, simulation, natural language processing, and business analytics, with hands-on project work in Python and R. I’m particularly interested in housing and community development, and in using data to design equitable, economically viable solutions.

Focus Areas

  • Applied machine learning and statistical modeling
  • Simulation and decision analysis
  • Data visualization for policy and business insights
  • Housing and community development analytics
  • Public policy and data-informed planning

Tools & Technologies

  • Languages: Python, R
  • Libraries: pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, matplotlib, seaborn
  • Methods: regression, classification, clustering, PCA, simulation, NLP
  • Workflow: data cleaning, exploratory analysis, modeling, validation, communication

What You’ll Find Here

This GitHub contains a mix of coursework, experiments, and applied projects focused on:

  • Translating messy, real-world data into actionable insights
  • Evaluating tradeoffs using statistical and simulation-based approaches
  • Exploring analytics applications in housing, urban development, and public policy

Repositories will generally include clear problem statements, documented assumptions, and reproducible analysis.

Background

Before pursuing formal training in analytics, I worked in finance, local government, and nonprofit leadership roles where data-informed decision-making was central to policy, planning, and community outcomes. That experience continues to shape how I approach analytics today: models should support better decisions, not just better metrics.
