🛰 starlink-viz - Track Starlink Satellites in 3D

Download starlink-viz

🛠 What is starlink-viz?

starlink-viz shows you the real-time position of Starlink satellites around the Earth. You can view satellites in 3D space or from the ground, see live data from ground stations, and watch how satellites move across the sky. The app uses accurate orbital calculations and lets you track about 10,000 satellites and ground stations. It also shows network paths and performance between satellites.

The interface uses modern web technology but runs as a desktop app on Windows. You do not need coding skills to use it.

💻 System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or newer
  • Processor: Intel or AMD processor, 2 GHz or faster
  • Memory: At least 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: DirectX 11 compatible GPU recommended for smooth 3D
  • Storage: Minimum 200 MB free disk space
  • Internet: Required for live data updates

🛰 Using starlink-viz Features

starlink-viz has several views and tools:

  • Space view: See satellites orbiting Earth from a space perspective.
  • Sky view: View satellite paths as they appear from a ground location.
  • Live dish telemetry: Monitor real-time data coming from Starlink dishes connected to the network.
  • SGP4 propagation: Watch the predicted movements of satellites using orbital calculations.
  • ISL routing: See inter-satellite links and network connections.

You can select specific satellites or ground stations from the sidebar menu to get detailed information.

🔧 Settings and Configuration

To change your settings:

  1. Open the menu by clicking the gear icon in the top right of the app.

  2. Adjust options like:

    • Time zone for local time display
    • Units for distances (km or miles)
    • Satellite data refresh rate
    • Display preferences such as showing orbit trails or masking Earth’s clouds
  3. Click Save after making changes.

👨‍💻 Troubleshooting

If starlink-viz does not start or shows errors, try these steps:

  • Make sure your Windows system is up to date.

  • Check that you have installed any recommended graphics card drivers.

  • Restart your computer to reset any locked resources.

  • Confirm you have a working internet connection to receive satellite updates.

  • Close other heavy programs to free RAM and CPU power.

If the app crashes, try reinstalling it using the steps above.

📂 Where to Find Logs and Data

starlink-viz saves logs and user settings in your Windows user folder here:

C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\starlink-viz\

You can find files that track application errors and user preferences. This information helps diagnose issues if you seek technical support.

⚙️ Updating starlink-viz
