New API Proposal from Chenosis : IMEI Fraud Check API

This API enables the API Consumer to determine whether fraud has been reported for the connected device. It will use the MSISDN or/ IMEI to check if the associated device has been reported as lost, suspended, stolen, blacklisted.
Use case – account takeover, online registration

This API proposal has been marked as Frozen because it has not shown active progress. Specifically, one or more of the following conditions have been met:

• The proposal owner has been absent from 3 consecutive Working Group meetings,

• There has been no activity on this issue (comments, PRs, or updates) for at least 6 weeks, or

• The proposal was approved by the TSC but no onboarding tracker was created after 3 WG sessions.

As a result:

• This issue has been labeled frozen.

• Any related open Pull Requests have been closed.

• The proposal is moved to the Frozen Proposals section of the Working Group agenda and is excluded from active discussions.

👉 How to reactivate this proposal:

If you would like to resume progress, please:

1. Comment on this issue explicitly mentioning the proposal owner, and

2. Notify the API Backlog Working Group at least 1 week before the agenda of the next WG meeting is finalized.

Once reactivated, the proposal will return to the main agenda for discussion.

If no action is taken within 6 months, the proposal may be archived and closed permanently.

Remaining tasks from las Backlog WG meeting:

AP3: Check the material shared by Eric/GSMA regarding DeviceCheck, and validate the inclusion of the API in the Device Identifier group - Pending

• IMEI Fraud will offer more information than GSMA Device Check service. MTN and other supporters should meet with GSMA to discuss if proceeding with this API within CAMARA still makes sense. Request for meeting already sent by GSMA.

• Action to remain open until after meeting with GSMA is held
