I've reproduced on Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS, x86-64, with the specified versions of ocaml, camlp5, ledit. Installs cleanly using opam. Did you use opam to do the installs? It appears not ? I have no access to Mac, so cannot debug. Here are some suggestions: (1) if you did not use opam, try it with opam, using the most vanilla installation. E.g., I did: opam switch create 4.14.3 [update environment variables -- I have an alias "refresh_switch" that does this] 9985 which ocaml 9986 opam install camlp5.8.04.00 9987 opam show ledit 9988 opam install ledit.2.08

-extremely- vanilla. If this works, then we will know that the problem is with local configuration. (2) If you did use opam, can you specify the precise sequence of commands you used ? If you did not use opam, my guess would be that somehow the paths to the camlp5 installation are incorrect. This is a debuggable situation, so no worries.

Thank you for responding. My aim is to fix the build from the port, so alternative via opam does not serve the purpose. It was building earlier, but for some reason failed now. The only change was revbump after ocaml update to 4.14.3. There are no patches on ledit source, and our portfile looks pretty vanilla: https://github.com/macos-powerpc/powerpc-ports/blob/03d66119bc11c9d14ab0b12c538626f4ec920694/editors/ledit/Portfile – so not sure what goes wrong.

Can you please try to install using the opam sequence I provided? Yes, I fully understand that the goal is a port, and hence opam is irrelevant. But if it installs with opam, then the problem is almost certainly one of -paths-. If it doesn't install with opam, then there might be something else going on. It's worth eliminating the question "does it install at all on MacOS", and an install using opam in the most vanilla mode, should answer that question.
