ESAlignmentWorks, was previously used for CMS Preshower Alignment at 2010, 2011, 2012. The reduced calculation, the optimized working flow, and this package were Kai-Yi Kao's beginning homecook. This package was compatible with CMSSW_3_X_Y with some modification. It was also processed on CMSSW_5_6_1 at this July(2013).
The tool is used for reducing CMSSW-ROOT-branches and some events from RECO-format data. The interesting branches are Preshower reconstructed hits, the reconstructed tracks, offline beam spot and some branches used for track-refitter ; so RECO-format is needed.
The tool is used for generating the analyzed ntuples with the information for the further combination from the parallel jobs. Because the alignment parameters are approached iteratively with each process, it is good to save time by using skimmed data.
