Git Actions, Testing, and Linting

We need to add some git actions for making sure the code that is being added isn't breaking things.

Describe the solution you'd like
We need to possibly break this ticket up into smaller pieces. Because we need to start adding some tests which I don't think this project currently has. Let's start a discussion to come to a final decision.

As far as linting goes, within the "lint-staged" key of the package.json, you can also add a command for eslint, so it will format with prettier and perform linting with eslint before each commit. Prettier's documentation says eslinting should happen before the prettier formatting occurs, so the command would have to be put above the prettier command.
