Project jrdev.au

A. Lean Canvas

1. Project Background

Code.Sydney is trying its best to help self-taught developers, career switchers and re-skillers gain their first paid employment as a novice developer.
jrdev.au is our attempt to connect novice developers (with zero to 1 yr or so experience) to potential local employers.

2. Customer Segments

  • Beginner Developers
  • Local Recruiters/Employers

3. Problem Statement

The competition in beginner developer job market arena is fierce. There are too many applicants for very few job openings. We also think many companies do not have the bandwidth to even train new developers as their more senior developers are too busy working with more important projects.

4. Solution

jrdev.au is just our platform, majority of the work will be done behind the scenes through Code.Sydney partnerships with recruiters (as force multiplier) as a start.

5. Key Metrics

Growth metrics

  • No. of Customer Signups
  • % Customer Signup to % job placements

6. Unique Value Proposition

  • Unlike larger job portals, jrdev.au does not charge any fee to local job postings.

7. Unfair Advantage

  • jrdev.au is fully backed by the Code.Sydney community of local developers.

8. Marketing Channels

  • Local marketing (local community board, mail marketing, etc)
  • Digital marketing (social media, etc)

9. Cost Structure

  • Frontend hosting fee - Vercel ($5/month)
  • Backend hosting fee - Heroku ($10/month)
  • MongoDB (TBA)

10. Potential Revenue Streams

  • Perhaps pay-as-you-feel model in the future but this can be revisited post-MVP
