/opt is probably not the location where people who "may not often work with git" will want to clone the repo to. For starters, you'll need root privileges to write any file there.

Yeah, agree. Just built my system a month ago. Not sure how my base git ended up there. Likely a blog about cloning and building yay. I'll remove that line in another pull. Standby.
