Fail-first is not working in oss conductor

I am using conductor in local. Using 3.21.18 tag to build image. But i am hitting the workflow api

http://localhost:8080/api/workflow/him-worflow-run-simple1?version=7&waitForCompletion=true&waitForSeconds=30

This return instant response to me with ID return.

Why it did not wait as the workflow take 10 sec to execute.

I don't see any documentation that say github build will not support sync workflow execute from api. its always async.

Suggest a potential alternative/fix

You're right - the waitForCompletion and waitForSeconds parameters work in Orkes Conductor (the enterprise version) but are not currently implemented in OSS. Sorry you're bumping into this discrepancy. We're working on closing the gap on these differences as we speak.

In the meantime, here's a Python example of how you can work around this:

from conductor.client.http.models import StartWorkflowRequest
from conductor.client.workflow_client import WorkflowClient
import time

workflow_client = WorkflowClient()
request = StartWorkflowRequest(name='him-worflow-run-simple1', version=7)
workflow_id = workflow_client.start_workflow(request)

# Poll for completion
max_wait = 30
elapsed = 0
while elapsed < max_wait:
    workflow = workflow_client.get_workflow(workflow_id, include_tasks=False)
    if workflow.status in ['COMPLETED', 'FAILED', 'TERMINATED']:
        print(f"Workflow finished with status: {workflow.status}")
        break
    time.sleep(1)
    elapsed += 1
