Geocode search options persist after user clears selected value

Steps to reproduce:

1. When i type Atl in r-s-g, i get geocode results in the dropdown options.
2. I then select an option.
3. Then I clear that option with the x.
4. At this point after clicking in r-s-g, I would expect no options. However, I see the previous search results instead of an empty list (or a single "Use my location” option).
