would the "Device Automation Bus" be of any use in WAVE

In the October 1st WAVE meeting at the CTA Fall Forum, one of the issues was about whether the "Device Automation Bus" - https://getdab.org/ would be of any help in WAVE.

"Device Automation Bus is a simple protocol for intuitively interacting with consumer electronics in the living room that are connected to the Internet such as Smart TVs and gaming consoles. DAB enables device manufacturers and application developers to programmatically start and stop applications, send key presses to the device, restart the device, capture device metrics among other operations."

It was mentioned that using it resulted in a big simplification in test runners (etc) for one of those present.

@jpiesing any support for automation (via DAB or in combination with other specs like WebDriver ) will help, but the current solution will remain for some time to support legacy devices. for DPCTF, we have also other steps like Camera recording and copy video files that are currently manual need also to be considered in the automation. When we consider more automation in the future, we need to think about automating the whole process.

@jpiesing do you know if there are TV devices already supporting DAB?
