Version 1?

@d33bs - I'm wondering your thoughts on the timing of version 1 release. Are we ready? If not, are the number of issues outstanding to get us there countable?

Thanks @gwaybio ! I think we're just about there. This issue might benefit from referencing #6, where we set out to document some of this. I think we can forego the conda checkmark for now in order to reach a v1.0.0 release (because we already spent time exploring this and couldn't complete it at the time without further insight from that community). Maybe we could create an issue specific to the conda release to help make sure we eventually reach that goal.

Associated with that issue is milestone v0.1.0 where we have #75 and #25 remaining open. #75 might be now addressed with the merge of #315 (needs confirmation). We could add a quick demonstration notebook to address #25 (I had started this work some time ago so this could be a quick win). Thoughts?
