Mid-paragraph push/pull spans not working

Hanging punctuation no longer works mid paragraph:

Here's the breaking change to fix this courtesy of MB:

.pull-double, 
.push-double,
.pull-single,
.push-single {
display: inline-block
}

FWIW my proposed fix is to put inline-block on the push classes, but not the pulls.
