Documentation request: "Keyboard Layout Editor" file

I'd like to create my own keyboard based on yours. I can't find keys layout file. Do you have one ? I use this plugin in kicad.

Wouldn't it be easier to fork this project, open the Kicad Project and edit the layout directly?
