Migration to gulp.js?

Hi Rahul. I've really enjoyed your talk at Google AngularJS Meetup (just couldn't tell what city this was in). I believe you've mentioned willingness to migrate from Grunt to Gulp.js build. Is this something you are still interested in?

I mentioned that I will be migrating the companion task for the client-side library from Grunt to Gulp

It's still a WIP but I hope to release it soon, in the meantime you can look at this

but yes I am open to migrating the build system for the library to Gulp as well. It is not super high on my priority list though as it works fine now, but if you want to make a PR I will take a look at it and merge if all looks good :)

Awesome. Yes, I can take a stab at porting it. I know quite a bit about Gulp, but not as much about Grunt. But I think I should be able to figure out what's going on there.

Are you using still using the copy task? I don't see any reference to it.

You're right, I don't think I am using it anymore. Initially it was there to aid in deployment but that's not necessary anymore :)

By default, gulp-gzip generates files with .gz extension. I see that you are assigning .gzip one. How important for you to preserve that extension or can we go with the default .gz one?

I am fine either way, we anyone don't specify .gzip/.gz files inside the script tags, but let the browser serve the gzipped version of the .min.js if available, so as long as browsers can pull the .gz extensioned files automatically it's not a problem.

I think "*.gz" extension should work fine. This is the default extension after all.

I can't seem to find explanation of bump in grunt-preprocess docs.

@demisx it reads out the version number from the package.json and then writes the correct version into the js file.

It doesn't bump the version, just writes it as is, correct?

Yes that's right, sorry I did the build system in a hurry so some of the naming is very wrong. I hope to have the build system keep the package.json and bower.json files in sync but so far that's manual, only this bit is automated (somewhat)
