Do we need the entire thing in an ifdef? It seems like other architectures get by with just without it and using shared typedefs. |

This is a speculative change to fix the build breakage in #9500.
I have compiled on Ubuntu 16.04, I'll run regression, but I do not expect to see an issue here.
