Thank you very much for the thorough tests. LGTM, just some minor suggestions and questions, and we need the else branch in some of the helper functions here too.

Latest changes LGTM. Thank you!
While we are still discussing what should be tested for the ordered flag, that does not have to prevent this PR from going in. That said, I am happy to review this again if the test on ordered flag is expanded here.
