[BUG] Arithmetic Overflow Error

Describe the Bug

On the dashboard, it shows 1 collector has failed. Looking at collection_log table I see the error "Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type smallint. Error in query stats collector: Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type smallint."

Steps to Reproduce

The SQL collector job runs every 5 minutes and collects data.

Expected Behavior

No arithmetic overflow.

Actual Behavior

Arithmetic overflow error happens.

Error Messages / Log Output

Found the root cause: the min_dop and max_dop columns in our staging temp table and permanent collect.query_stats table are declared as smallint, but sys.dm_exec_query_stats actually returns these as bigint. Same issue with the thread columns (min_reserved_threads, max_reserved_threads, min_used_threads, max_used_threads) — we had them as integer but the DMV returns bigint.

When the value exceeds the smallint range (32,767), the INSERT overflows. Fix incoming — widening all 6 columns to bigint to match the actual DMV types, plus an upgrade script for existing installations.

Thanks for the quick response. On a side note, SQL job only gathers the information, correct? All alerting is done from the client (dashboard).
