npm install requires generateJsDoc.sh

Unless the shell script is copied the install won't work and will return like this:

ergo the line has to be removed from .npmignore

did this happen with npm install or what was the excat command? And whats your're npm version? That must be a new problem. Anyway, we can remove the whole npmignore. The npmignore is very old and not used anymore since the installation works with a git clone

Nope. I simply used the bin/installDeps.sh but of course i also tried it manually. All of them failed like mentioned above.

0.2.19
$ node --version
v0.4.10

As I said simply copying the generateJsDoc.sh fixes the problem if you intend to keep the .npmignore.

npm 0.2.19 is very old, 1.0.22 is the latest. I think this is why its fails

0.2.19 unfortunately is the current version in Debian. See also https://github.com/isaacs/npm/issues/1194.

@adrianlang we just don't support this npm version, we can't support everything. This old npm tries to do a global installation instead of a local. I added a npm version check to the latest master

I don’t see anything about a global vs local installation issue. As said in the linked issue, a simple file renaming fixed the problem.

Yep. I’m running Debian Squeeze with self-compiled nodejs and npm packages from sid (0.4.10-1 and 0.2.19-1). Etherpad lite is at 97382e3. After moving bin/generateJsDoc.sh to bin/generateDoc.sh, the installation succeeded.

It should work too if you just remove .npmignore. I think the problem is that there is a file defined, that was renamed
