This is a reconstruction of PR 2949 that was closed. We were unable to contact the authors, but did not want the work to go unused or unacknowledged. This is reproduced as-is, and will probably need to be reviewed and edited, but I wanted to get the PR done before it slipped through the cracks. The exercise is currently flagged as WIP in config.json
