ya, i agree, which is why i wrote this long ago. i also have nu_plugin_gitql which uses more updated crates. I was planning on merging the gitql code on top of query git just to have it all in one place when it's done. i've been waiting for the gitql stuff to become more stable and mature a bit.

I'm happy to have contributions to bring this up to date whether that's merging my other plugin or just a PR from someone. I'd love to continue growing this and perhaps someday make it a built-in nushell command if it gets enough traction.

I'm up for whatever contributions you'd like to send my way here. I'd personally like all the crates to be on their latest version, at a minimum, then we could discuss adding more features.

Regardless of the maturity of the newer crates? Once you merge the gitql code I would totally begin contributing, just need that stability first.

Works for me! And a note on the nushell integration; I think it would be preferable to have a generic "vcs" command that would be agnostic to whether it's Git, JJ, CVS, etc.

gitql is only git. I'm not sure about having an internal command that supports a bunch of version controllers. The deps also would probably be huge.

100% ! Could be incorporated as ONLY having git support from the beginning, it would be a principle that would be set more than something to throw developer effort at. JJ and Pijul both are implemented in Rust so it would at least be feasible for them. ▰▰▰▰▰ Miles Wirth 🙃
