{mildsvm} is an interesting package to look more into. I have perused {e1701} & {liquidSVM} but think they do not have anything not already handled in {parsnip} or {kernlab}. Which brings up another items, {kernlab} has some other engines besides ksvm that could be bound to {maize}. I was thinking some proof-of-concepts on the following.

in {kernlab}:

• lssvm
• rvm
• kqr

in {mildsvm}, test compatibility with some of the engines and methods:

• omisvm?
• misvm?
• misvm_orova

I saw this issue in {parsnip}: tidymodels/parsnip#1008

lssvm may come to live in {maize}! I've been working on kernel bindings the last few months but engines and recipe steps will come next.

Here's the first leap. lssvm, kqr, and rvm have been added using the laplacedot kernel. There's a new vignette with more details.

omisvm will not be added due to dependency on gurobi. misvm and mismm were skipped in favor of heuristic methods for solving misvm_orova with the rbf kernel. At least one kernel has been added for each engine. kqr and lssvm will be expanded to other kernels but rvm often runs into C stack issues so it is unlikely for more rvm support.
