Sporadic policy blocking issue retrieving models

Describe the bug

I'm logged in with account with valid Enterprise Copilot sub. Copilot shows (correctly) ~40% remaining premium request, but I cannot even list models with '/models' command - error is Failed to load models : access denied by Copilot policy. But in our Ent. account all models are enabled.
Everything was working few hours ago. Had similar situation few days ago, after ~2h everything started working ok again.

One last comment as I've realised something else: in our (company) organisation github settings (for Copilot > Models), I enabled "Anthropic Claude Sonnet 4.6" model which was still set to "Undefined" (as it's new). I've checked and the latest copilot CLI defaults the user to exactly this model which is likely the root cause of this issue: it's defaulting to a model which hasn't been explicitly "allowed" by IT Admin in the github settings.

I've checked and the latest copilot CLI defaults the user to exactly this model which is likely the root cause of this issue: it's defaulting to a model which hasn't been explicitly "allowed" by IT Admin in the github settings.

is there a way out? I think it is the same issue. Can I locally mark a model as default so that it does not fail? I am also using v0.0.414 version.

I don't get policy denied error ,but cannot list models is first thing.

I tried to uninstall and installing 0.0.410 to avoid this issue but cannot seem to downgrade as it always picks up latest version.

... but even downgrading is a workaround to this logged issue.

To the Microsoft team (if you are reading this):

• The code should be improved to ensure that the default model chosen is "activated" (when on a teams/enterprise plan) in GitHub Org settings, before being chosen as the default (assuming this is the root cause - copilot CLI is closed source so you'll have to check for us...)

Not in my case, my default model was Opus 4.6 enabled some time ago. The issue dissapeared again. It was also affecting Copilot in VSCode (the same problem, I'm logged in, I can see my remaining premuim requests but can only choose 0x models).

--no-auto-update did pin the version I installed (in my case 0.0.410) but that error remains even in older version, still says Error loading model list: Error: Failed to list models. I believe until MS fixes it, only way out will be IT admin to update defaults.

I had this same issue with v0.0.415. I tried logging in many times, no success. My enterprise account and copilot settings show that I should have everything enabled and authorized properly. I downgraded to v0.0.413 and was able to use the models properly again.

Steps:

1. Delete ~/.copilot/pkg/
2. npm install -g @github/copilot@0.0.413
