It is frustrating that in the latest versions an error of 0 occurrences found for old_string appears.

What happened?

I've been testing the last 2-3 versions and it seems that this annoying error still exists, which, once this error appears, there is no way to edit and finish the task, the solution is to close it and start a new conversation.

Obviously I make modifications, but Gemini should know how to read code and understand it (at least) and be able to make some modifications if I ask him to, but this error appears many times.

The Gemini cli doesn't have magic awareness of things that you do outside of it context - or outside of the current session not saved to memory, make sure you save important information so that it has the context to serve you best. Do you have more information on the specific situation I Can help you more? Also - you can tell the Gemini-cli to ingest the relevant files code surrounding any changes you are about to make as part of your prompt, it has a very large context window, and good memory of in context range information.

I think this might be related to the "replace" functionality/tool, not sure though.

Copy that, latest version is totally buggy and unable to edit files. It works for something like up to 5 file edits and than it is unable to produce proper old_string and file edits stop working at that stage
