Datastore from flex env not working anymore ?

using datatore from nodejs flex environment used to work until 1 day ago. Now it just hangs for ever. To reproduce it just follow the exmaple from https://cloud.google.com/appengine/docs/flexible/nodejs/using-cloud-datastore#for_more_information

any ideas ?

as for #1946 Downgrading to grpc 1.0.1 in my project seems to fix the issue.
