Prework to prep for meeting

Decided to conduct Open Office Hours for introductions, troubleshooting, streamlining of new volunteers. This was decided based on the high number of new members onboarded in January.

Notes from meeting

• Introductions and hellos since UI/UX CoP was meeting after the December break.
• Walked through the process of selecting open design/research/writing roles.
• Walked through process of selecting & self-assigning guides, especially for new volunteers. Discussed benefits of guides for portfolio, research/design ops practice & documentation. Brian, who is currently working on a guide discussed experience of working on the guide. We also shared Briel's presentation documented in the Wiki regarding experience & process of creating guide (under Resources: https://github.com/hackforla/UI-UX/wiki)
• Discussed UI/UX mentor platforms like UX Coffee Hours, ADP List.
• Richard (UI/UX CoP member) shared information regarding a mentor platform attended (KeyLime for UX Researchers).
• Fielded questions from new members and worked on streamlining, troubleshooting & finding solutions as a group (ranging from onboarding questions, Github and Kanban boards, finding new projects to work on, reaching out to potential teams, writing a good intro while reaching out to PMs and Leads on Slack, UXR as a career choice for psychology grads etc.)

Tasks

• Members shared new resources with the community. Create a Wiki Page under UI/UX CoP Wiki to keep track of issues shared during weekly meetings by members - an open, readily available repository.
• Share above Wiki resource on UI/UX Slack

  Finalised priority issues to work on this week:
• Aparna: Update UI/UX CoP Meeting Agenda, Create Wiki page to document resources shared during weekly meeting, Share Wiki details on Slack, Create issue & role card for Speaker Consent forms, Get feedback for this issue from other Co-Leads
• Julia: Announce guest speaker details on UI/UX Slack, Follow-up regarding arrangements for guest speaker with Sara who is currently the point of contact, reaching out to other teams via Slack & confirm open/closed roles (in order to clean-up) projects board.
