Hi there. I was wondering if you might have any idea why I get this error message when I try to run your code. I don't actually know that it's a problem with your code, because it seemed to work alright before.

I have made no modifications to it.

Chris, I haven't looked at this code in a while. Nor have I modified it in
a while. Did you try accessing the GPIO from bash directly using echo and
cat commands? Is this happening on all the GPIOs or just one in particular?
Also Are you using the RPi1 or 2. I haven't tested the code on RPi 2 yet.

I am using Raspberry Pi 3 and I am facing the same error

[pwr33]

Seems it needs a delay before attempting to access the direction file

usleep(100000); works ok

usleep(10000); does not 

so somewhere in between those two values is the minimum delay required

can do all the exports in one go but then delay required before the udev rule (or whetever) has set up the direction file with group permissions
