Tapping photo to hide UI causes photo to disappear in landscape under Places map

I have searched the existing issues, both open and closed, to make sure this is not a duplicate report.

The bug

When viewing a photo from the map page, tapping to hide the UI causes the photo to disappear to a loading screen that never appears to load. I can swipe through and rotate my phone and eventually get it to display.

Reproduction steps

1. Open app
2. Go to Library tab
3. Tap Places
4. Tap the map at the top
5. Zoom to any area
6. Open a photo
7. Rotate phone to landscape
8. Tap photo to clear UI
   Photo then disappears to a loading screen.
