Will higher than 1080p resolutions be supported?

Graphical performance in Windows running on KVM is the only thing where that experience still lags. Thanks for implementing this, seems perfect. I was running through the guide and noticed it says that 1920x1080 is the highest supported resolution. I use a 2560x1440 screen, will that be supported in the future or is there a fundamental hardware limitation?

Just a quick question regarding this...
I would really like to have higher resolutions available and was wondering what needs to be done to achieve this. If this is not too complicated, I might attempt it myself, however I am assuming that the reason this has not been implemented yet, is that there are some complicating factors.
@TerrenceXu, could you elaborate on what needs to be done for higher resolutions?
Is this a question of adding definitions for those resolutions and making sure enough memory is allocated to framebuffers? Or is 1920x1200 some fundamental barrier?

@bigmomma , Now the 4k is not the problem if your aperture size is enough, the definition depends on the vgpu EDID, you can check drivers/gpu/drm/i915/gvt/display.h

Looks you can try to boot up though dma-buf feature with latest kernel + 4.x qemu and assign EDID by qemu.

I was able to achieve 4K creating the 3840x2160 mode in CRU in Windows 10. I'm using

Will 4k work with all supported devices or is there another requirement? I'm not sure how to check "aperture size".

My actual question is to ask which NUCs would support 4k passthrough via GVT-g.

I do not have an intel CPU myself, but you could try out if it works on your card (unoffically) by using the qemu:commandline

   <qemu:arg value='-set'/>
    <qemu:arg value='device.hostdev0.xres=1440'/>
    <qemu:arg value='-set'/>
    <qemu:arg value='device.hostdev0.yres=900'/>

While it is unlikely that it will work without issues seeing as it seems to not be supported officially you can give it a shot anyways
