Reverts #801
Reverting the previous sync merge to correct merge strategy issue.
The previous sync PR (#801) was merged using "Squash and merge" instead of the required "Create a merge commit" strategy
After this revert is merged, will immediately create a new sync PR with the correct merge strategy
