We need a license in order to allow people to make use of this. Propose to use SIL.

(Not legal advice)

Copy of SIL can be found here: https://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?item_id=OFL_web

Hi, thanks for your interest in this project and for raising this valid issue.

No license was added during the project creation as there was no clear fit, and I did not have the legal expertise to find one:

  • The contents in the ttf/woff files are generated by me — I have no issues with a permissive license.. but:
  • The "shape" and artistic intent of the glyphs may technically belong to LTA (after commissioning it from their type foundry). This is, after all, intended to be an exact copy of their typeface, even if there are some minor variations at this time.

That caveat potentially invalidates any license that is applied on this project, therefore this project currently ships without a license until I can find firm advice on this issue.

While the license is still being sorted out, hopefully this typeface finds use in more local projects and receives implicit approval from LTA (by not receiving takedown notices or complaints). An implicit approval is less than ideal, but will still go a long way in improving the availability of this typeface.
