Setup a site using github pages and Jekyll

• Follow the basic instructions in setting up a site using GitHub pages.
• Generate an initial site with Jekyll

On the pages settings I choose to put the Jekyll documentation inside the /docs folder on master and go with the classic Jekyll build process:

I created a CNAME record on kea.dev's DNS registry:

docs  600  IN     CNAME   kea-dev.github.io.

...it would also have worked with a wildcard CNAME setting:

*  600  IN     CNAME   kea-dev.github.io.

I started a GitHub CodeSpace on the repo:

and generated the site from the linux terminal there:

cd docs
jekyll new --skip-bundle .

As soon as it's pushed to GitHub it's automatically built (that's the Jekyll integration on GitHub pages "Deploy from branch" selected on the Pages settings).

In the CodeSpace all my git settings are just right straight out of the box; so I just vent:

git add .
git commit -m "added jekyll
git push
