This seems to be addressed in PR 4 (though, not as explicit as you've done here - which may be an advantage). Also, the part about using name vs fqdn might be overloading this PR. |

I've patched this to work with remote SMTP servers as well as working on nodes that may not have a FQDN defined. Let me know if you see areas for improvement.
