Summary

Closes the Epoch 9 trio execution session with a DOLCHEO+ journal at odd/ledger/2026-05-12-epoch-9-trio-execution.md. Records 15 encoded artifacts (4 D, 3 O, 3 L, 2 C, 1 H, 2 O-open), a mode timeline, and the trio outcome table.

Trio it closes:

PR Subject Merged at
#202 Bootstrap (handoff + planning ledger) b7925f1
#203 Epoch 9 declaration (4 governance markers + retag of 19 docs + bootstrap) 84db238
#204 "We Were the Wire" essay (3,989 words) c8c2f90

What's in this PR

One new file: odd/ledger/2026-05-12-epoch-9-trio-execution.md (~8.9 KB). Pure journal — no canon mutations, no code, no governance impact.

audience: odd (per the schema-correct convention established in #202; not the latent-violation audience: ledger).

Two opens carried forward

  • P12 — AMS-side forward-pointer to writings/we-were-the-wire. Small follow-up PR against klappy/agent-messaging-service adding a single line at the head of ESSAY.md linking to https://klappy.dev/writings/we-were-the-wire.
  • P13audience: ledger latent violation across existing odd/ledger/*.md. Either expand the schema enum to include ledger (preserves existing convention) or do a one-pass audit/migration to audience: odd. Decision belongs at planning, not execution.

Key learning recorded

Same-session mid-run compaction was clean. Anthropic's host summarized to ~3,000 words mid-execution; transcript persisted at /mnt/transcripts; all working state (branch, PAT, container filesystem) survived. Resume succeeded with one oddkit_time call + git status + a PR check-runs poll. The "Continuous Bidirectional DOLCHEO Compression" architecture pattern is reachable in practice with current Anthropic tooling — the compaction summary acted as a DOLCHEO encoding of the prior session, indistinguishable in shape from a planning-handoff.

Validation

$ python3 scripts/validate-frontmatter.py odd/ledger/2026-05-12-epoch-9-trio-execution.md
✅ Frontmatter OK — 1 file(s) scanned, 0 findings.

Note: frontmatter validator CI scans only writings/, so this ledger gets a manual local check rather than a CI check. Per O-encoded in the ledger: this is a known coverage gap (odd/, canon/, docs/ can hold latent violations indefinitely).

Reversibility

  • Single new file in odd/ledger/ — deletable
  • No retroactive changes to anything
  • No code, no behavior change, no governance impact

Builds on

  • klappy://odd/ledger/2026-05-12-epoch-9-planning — planning session ledger
  • klappy://odd/handoffs/2026-05-12-epoch-9-trio — execution handoff this session ran

Note

Low Risk
Low risk: adds a single odd/ledger markdown journal file with no code or behavioral changes.

Overview
Adds a new session closeout ledger at odd/ledger/2026-05-12-epoch-9-trio-execution.md documenting the Epoch 9 “trio execution” (PR outcomes, decisions/observations/learnings, mode timeline, and follow-up opens), with schema-valid frontmatter (audience: odd).

DOLCHEO+ session journal for the trio execution that landed Epoch 9 —
Substrate Becomes the Wire across three PRs:

- #202 bootstrap (b7925f1) — handoff + planning ledger
- #203 Epoch 9 declaration (84db238) — 4 governance markers + retag
- #204 'We Were the Wire' essay (c8c2f90) — 3,989-word public essay

15 artifacts encoded across D/O/L/C/H/O-open. Two opens carried forward:

  P12 — AMS-side forward-pointer to writings/we-were-the-wire (single
        line at top of klappy/agent-messaging-service/ESSAY.md)
P13 — audience: ledger latent violation across odd/ledger/*.md
(expand schema enum or migrate to audience: odd)

Key learning: same-session mid-run compaction was clean. Anthropic's
host summarized to ~3,000 words; transcript persisted at /mnt/transcripts;
all working state survived; resume succeeded with one oddkit_time call
+ git status + PR check-runs poll. Continuous Bidirectional DOLCHEO

audience: odd (per the schema-correct convention; not 'ledger').

Closes the Epoch 9 trio execution session.
