Description

This PR completes the incomplete SSL documentation referenced in Issue #4157. The current documentation begins with "There are two ways to enable SSL for Langflow..." but cuts off mid-sentence without providing implementation details.

The new documentation provides:

  • Clear prerequisites for SSL setup (domain requirements, certificate options)
  • Complete configuration methods using both environment variables and CLI flags
  • Step-by-step instructions for generating self-signed certificates
  • Production-ready guidance for Let's Encrypt integration (securing 600M+ websites as mentioned in their mission)
  • Practical troubleshooting for common SSL issues

This documentation follows Langflow's existing MDX format and integrates properly with the documentation sidebar.

Changes Made

  • Created new documentation file at docs/Deployment/ssl.mdx
  • Added sidebar entry in docs/sidebars.js
  • Formatted using Docusaurus components for better user experience
  • Included real-world examples and actionable instructions

Issue

Closes #4157

Additional Context

This contribution directly supports Langflow's mission of enabling users to "rapidly prototype and build AI applications" by providing secure deployment options. The documentation specifically references Let's Encrypt (mentioned in the knowledge base) as the recommended solution for production environments, aligning with industry best practices for "Encryption for Everybody."

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Added a comprehensive guide for enabling SSL in self-hosted deployments, covering both production (Let's Encrypt) and testing (self-signed certificates) scenarios.
    • Included Windows-specific instructions for SSL configuration.
    • Added troubleshooting tips for common SSL issues.
    • Updated the documentation sidebar to include the new SSL guide under the "Deploy" section.

Walkthrough

A new documentation page was added to guide users on enabling SSL for self-hosted Langflow deployments, covering both production and testing scenarios, including Windows-specific instructions and troubleshooting. The sidebar configuration was updated to include this new SSL documentation entry under the "Deploy" section.

41-46: Clarify self-signed command to avoid surprise passphrase prompt

openssl req -x509 -newkey rsa:4096 … without -nodes on some OpenSSL versions prompts for a PEM passphrase, which prevents unattended startup. You already add -nodes in the example, but emphasise its purpose to avoid confusion.

250-254: Sidebar entry looks good

The new deployment-ssl doc is correctly referenced and positioned after Render. No structural issues detected.

250-254: Use the same label shown in the page sidebar for consistency

The doc itself advertises Enable SSL (sidebar_label: "Enable SSL"), while the sidebar item is just SSL. Keeping the wording identical helps users recognise the entry instantly and follows the existing pattern ("Langflow Docker images", "Google Cloud Platform", …).

- label: "SSL"
