…-params `--params` only routes to path/query; body fields placed there are silently forwarded as unknown query params and ignored by the server, so the new slide ends up appended to the end instead of inserted at the requested position. Tighten rule #3 of the replace-slide checklist and add a "insert-before" jq template variant alongside the existing append-to-end one.
