Observed behavior

Small devices and the Android app

  • At Classes page the "New class" button is too close to the table in portrait mode. Also the "Class name" column is too wide so it's almost impossible to view the other columns
  • There's no visible scrollbars in the Android app so the user has to guess that it's possible to scroll and see other columns and rows
  • In landscape mode the tables are not useful at all

To be discussed

The New Class button should be checked on again in general as there has been changes around there on smaller screens by folding into the single "Options" dropdown menu.

However, the other two noted items are worth discussing - noting a few things:

  • We've not prioritized very-small landscape screens for this use-case for several reasons the most prominent of which is that there just isn't much space there to begin with. We might want to consider a more compact table view for this orientation+size combination?
  • I'm not sure if this is an OS-specific thing but I wonder if we should use the scrollbar styling pseudo-selectors as the latest scrollbar styling CSS selectors aren't supported by Android webview?
