Feature request: Make it easier to switch theme and accent color

The "Themes" app is complicated, everytime I want to toggle the color scheme (dark or light) I have to manually select all the "Mint-Y*"s. And the accent color shouldn't be hardcoded in the theme, they all look the same, the only visual diff is "Mint-Y" vs "Mint-X" (and the other modes, like hi-contrast, etc.). I have to search the desired color and manually replicate my choice to all other layout components.

It would be nice to have the option to use a consistent color scheme and accent color, but have the granular config as opt-in

That's a good alternative, if it weren't for the fact that light-scheme isn't purely "light". The taskbar (panel) stays in dark-scheme

The original request here was for a different way of handling themes. Not anything to do with mintwelcome. We've talked about this before but there would have to be a nice way to implement it. While it makes sense for our own themes, a lot of third party themes don't include a choice of colors or even a full set of themes (Gtk, icons, Cinnamon).

As far as the colors not being hard coded in the theme, well, that's just kind of how it works.

I think this would be hard to do in a way that's friendly to use and not just a bit of a mess. When you combine that with the fact that I don't think most people are just constantly changing themes, I'm not sure it's actually solving something that's much of a real issue.

@JosephMcc Unfortunately, that's true, and I agree. The only solution I can think of, is to add some kind of metadata that says "this theme supports custom accent colors", such that old themes would be assumed to not be compatible with accent colors (because they don't have the meta) and newer themes could be released with the meta (like the built-in ones). I would like to open a PR, but I have no idea where to go and where to start
