The bug where the "Use Responses API Specification" switch was ignored and requests always used the Responses API was fixed in a recent update (PR #10487). In your version (2.0.0-next.154), the switch should reliably control whether requests use the Responses API or not.

The switch works by updating your provider configuration, which is then read by the backend when constructing requests. If the switch is off, the payload should set apiMode to chatCompletion, not responses (source). If you’re still seeing requests use the Responses API with the switch off, try these steps:

• Double-check that your provider configuration is saved after toggling the switch.
• Clear your browser cache and restart the server to ensure the latest config is loaded.
• Enable debug logs for responses to inspect the outgoing payload and confirm the value of apiMode.

If the issue persists, it may be specific to your deployment or environment. The intended behavior is that the switch state directly controls API usage (PR #10487).
