The simple markup is gone with RDoc 3 (at least), but it works fine with Ruby 1.8 because it loads the bundled RDoc.
This fixes tests with Ruby 1.9.

As per summary these are two fixes that we applied in Gentoo to make it possible to run the tests on Ruby 1.9.
