[List] Inconsistent colors while using dark mode

Description:

• When using a List the M3 Expressive way and dark mode is switched-off, the segemented list items get a brighter color than the background. This is consistent across the M3 Catalog app and various Google apps (Android API 36 & 37).
• When switching to dark mode (using Theme.Material3Expressive.Dark), the Google apps (Android API 36 & 37) do also consistently use a brighter color for the segemented list items than the background. However, the M3 Catalog app (and apps built with the same concept) shows it the other way round. It applies a darker color to the list items than to the background.

Expected behavior:
To me it seems as if the colors (list items vs background) are inconsistently applied to the M3 Catalog app List examples and apps that are build with M3 Expressive in case the dark mode is used on a phone.
