"Start without debugging" doesn't work

VS Code provides "Start without debugging" functionality, but it doesn't work for Java as far as I know.

Environment

• Operating System: MacOSX
• JDK version: 1.8
• Visual Studio Code version:1.25.1
• Java extension version:0.29.0
• Java Debugger extension version:0.10.0

Steps To Reproduce

1. Open a Java project and set a breakpoint
2. Trigger "Start without debugging"

Current Result

It starts debugging and the breakpoint is hit.

Expected Result

Run the project without hitting any breakpoints.

I find the raw request:

"noDebug":true is appended in the request.

Let's call "Start without debugging" noDebug mode in short. I plan to implement this feature in 2 steps:

1. Enable different request handlers for debug/noDebug mode. For debug mode, enable all the request handlers. For noDebug mode, only enable handlers for initialize, configurationDone, launch, disconnect requests.
2. Spawn a process directly for noDebug mode. We don't need to launch the process in a vm, instead we probably can spawn a process directly without appending vmargs like -Xdebug. Currently DebugSession is deeply coupled with VirtualMachine, so I think we might need to re-implement IDebugSession.

• Can launch a Java project by CTRL+F5or "Start without debugging".
• No breakpoints hit, no threads/callstack info shown.
