Aligned networkDB folder to master code (master commit: fbba555)
Major fix: #1944

This commit backport also networkDB modifications introduced by the following commits:

New functionality as adding the the capability to pass the packet size got stripped out, but the rest of the fixes got maintained

The package updated and now shows new warnings that had to be corrected
to let the CI pass

@fcrisciani it would be better if we are able to track the PRs that are being backported. We can get this PR merged. But pls add reference to the backported PRs for better tracking purposes.
