Description
Is the feature relevant to the Firefox PDF Viewer?
Yes
Feature description
Web browser and its version
Firefox to 146.0b9 x64
What is the existing behavior? Please describe.
I recently updated to Firefox 146.0b9. While there are several new appreciated features, there is one feature that seems retrograde, and is getting in the way of my day job.
Every time I delete a highlight, annotation, or something that I made, I get a pop-up that says (picture at end of ticket):
Highlight removed
The relevant section appears to be under "Annotations removed" bar. Other variations include "Text removed", "Drawing removed", "Image removed", and "Signature removed".
I use PDF.js in Firefox numerous times a day in my work to open up PDF files, highlight text, write new text, rearrange highlights, remove older highlights made irrelevant, etc. These pop-ups are now making PDF examination and processing take substantially longer than it used to, having pop-ups obscure the file temporarily and having to go out of my way to X out several of them a cycle. Especially on longer PDFs with over a hundred line items to rearrange, this can be quite a lot of time lost over time navigating through pop-ups.
What is the desired behavior? Why are you requesting the change?
The majority of user notifications in pretty much any other software package have user options to disable them from appearing in the future. What would make PDF.js a lot faster and quicker, less cumbersome, to use is the ability to disable these pop-ups.
Here's a couple of examples from Libre Office:
Program pop-up (with checkbox inset)
Option in-programme
If applicable, describe alternatives you've considered
Rolling back to a prior version of Firefox in the meantime.
Hope I'm super-blind and missed an option in about:config 🥲
