Release 3.1.0 - Roadmap

As discussed, we want to release approx. every 2 months, so RC1 will be tagged at 23.03.18.

• Bump version name and version code in build.gradle files
• Update CHANGELOG.md adding new features
• check if code is outdated due to last supported server version @NextcloudServer annotation

Test app with all supported Android versions

• access all activities
• auto upload
• upload / download files/folders
• use external sdcard
• what's new slides correctly shown on first start

To be fixed

• Error uploading: NullPointerException: String.isEmpty() on a null object reference #2439
• Unable to Browse Phone Storage #2438

Translation update

• fetch latest transifex translations -> update transifex #2456

• Backport "Fix #1260" #2451
• Backport #2449: prevent NPE via null check #2452
• Backport #2450: Fix local file/folder browsingfix local file/folder browsing #2453

RC1

• Verify that the new version number is shown in settings
• Verify that logging is enabled
• Tag new version as rc-3.1.0-01
• Build and release to Play Store as beta release and
• Publish it on f-droid as optional release: edit metadata and open new merge request on gitlab
• Verify that it is shown on f-droid (within 24h)
• Publish APK (generic) to https://download.nextcloud.com/android/

RC2

• Verify that the new version number is shown in settings
• Verify that logging is enabled
• Tag new version as rc-3.1.0-02
• Build and release to Play Store as beta release and
• Publish it on f-droid as optional release: edit metadata and open new merge request on gitlab
• Verify that it is shown on f-droid (within 24h)
• Publish APK (generic) to https://download.nextcloud.com/android/

Final Release, after two weeks time (max) of latest RC release

• replace screenshots (https://github.com/nextcloud/screenshots/tree/master/android/phone)
• Verify that the new version number is shown in settings
• Verify that logging is disabled
• update translations from transifex
• Test that what's new is shown correctly on upgrade
• Tag new version as stable-3.1.0
• Build and release to Play Store as stable release and
• Update Play store changelog based on condensed CHANGELOG.md infos
• Verify that it is shown on f-droid (within 24h)
• Publish APK (generic) to https://download.nextcloud.com/android/

I went through all PRs that have "to review" label.
Most of them have already an approval by @AndyScherzinger, so they only need some approval by either @mario or @przybylski.
I will have a look into those PRs that require an approval by me this week.

Ideally we can merge the PRs soon so they are some time in dev version until RC1 is done next week on thursday.

I commented on most PRs. Two big ones that I did not yet that need quite a lot of testing:

• device credentials
• recycler view

Please comment on questions where I've had them, and review my PRs.
