Not sure what you mean. Slack users can use create: ping same as IRC users.

sure, but the bot is not a real user in slack. i.e. i cannot @ the user or pm the user.

It's true we sort of "fake" the IRC users (and all messages technically come from @irc-bridge). However, you can DM IRC users using #56, and tag them using normal IRC syntax ("username:") so I'm not entirely sure what functionality is missing that something like tanya would provide besides @ typeahead completion.

i can't @irc-bridge and talk to create/ircbot directly right? tanya solves that.

obviously, tanya would only be used for the bot and not regular/other users. slackbridge would still be used to bridge irc to slack. i think most people would ping/@ ircbot a lot more often than users.

if we wanted to @ any user in irc from slack, this would not solve that of course. the integration is just for create/ircbot to be a "real" slack user.

You can! Open DMs with @irc-bridge and then use send messages like create: message. Currently create doesn't respond to DMs so you won't get any responses but the messages are going through.
