What type of PR is this?

/kind bug

What this PR does / why we need it:

This PR fixes the model agent daemonset deployment failure that occurs when the volume mount directory doesn't exist on the node. Previously, the hostPath volume type
was set to Directory, which requires the directory to pre-exist on the node, forcing users to manually SSH into nodes to create the directory.

By changing the hostPath volume type from Directory to DirectoryOrCreate, Kubernetes will automatically create the directory if it doesn't exist, eliminating the
need for manual intervention.

Which issue(s) this PR fixes:

Fixes #

Special notes for your reviewer:

The change was applied to both daemonset configurations:

  • Helm chart template: /charts/ome-resources/templates/model-agent-daemonset/daemonset.yaml
  • Config manifest: /config/model-agent/daemonset.yaml

This is a minimal change that improves deployment reliability without any breaking changes.

Does this PR introduce a user-facing change?

Fixed model agent daemonset deployment failure when the host directory doesn't exist by using DirectoryOrCreate volume type instead of Directory

Summary of Changes

Hello @slin1237, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request addresses a critical reliability issue in the model agent daemonset deployment. By modifying the hostPath volume type from Directory to DirectoryOrCreate, it ensures that the necessary host directories for volume mounts are automatically provisioned by Kubernetes if they don't already exist. This change prevents deployment failures that previously occurred due to missing directories and significantly improves the robustness of the model agent's deployment process.

Highlights

  • Deployment Reliability Fix: Corrected a bug causing model agent daemonset deployments to fail when the required host directory for volume mounts was absent.
  • Automated Directory Creation: Updated Kubernetes hostPath volume configurations to use DirectoryOrCreate type, enabling Kubernetes to automatically create the target directory if it doesn't exist.
  • Consistent Configuration Update: Applied this essential fix to both the Helm chart template (charts/ome-resources/templates/model-agent-daemonset/daemonset.yaml) and the direct Kubernetes manifest (config/model-agent/daemonset.yaml) for the model agent daemonset.

Code Review

This pull request effectively addresses the reported bug by changing the hostPath volume type from Directory to DirectoryOrCreate in both the Helm chart template and the raw Kubernetes manifest. This ensures that the necessary directories for the model agent are automatically created if they don't exist, significantly improving deployment reliability and eliminating the need for manual intervention. The change is minimal, correct, and directly resolves the issue as described in the PR description. No new medium, high, or critical issues were identified as a direct result of these changes.
