Release for Linux arch64?

Hello guys,
I love your project. I am working on a MacBook with Asahi Linux so for the client I would need a arm64/arch64 release, which currently is not available. I was able to compile it on my own (https://github.com/handtrixx/opencloud-eu-desktop-arm64/releases/tag/v1.0.0-rc.3_arch64) but would prefer not to have to do that in future.
Do you plan to release an official arch64 client for linux?
That would help raspi owners and so on as well.

@sallyhaj : Hm, they just releases version 3 of desktop client today. While i was using version 1 for compilation :-( Would have to redo that with the current version, but asking myself if there isn't a better way....

I was hoping that if there is a document for installing/compiling the app from source, which can benefit all packages maintainers.

Yes, for that you can use my repository and it should still work if you compile it with docker as described in the README. I just wanted to avoid you try to use the pre-compiled package I offered, which was very outdated. Deleted that now, just to be sure. Still an official release would be more nice, but I am glad I could help out and still very happy with OpenCloud while using it for 6 months, now.

Thank you @handtrixx , I have tried using your repo https://github.com/handtrixx/opencloud-eu-desktop-arm64 but I stuck with a few things.
What I have done is that:
Clone your repo, then run podman build -t opencloud-desktop-client .
The output of this process is a file named opencloud-1.0.0-Linux.rpm with 2.4M of size.
But as I am not using Fedora on arm64 devices, instead using Debian. I tried to get Appimage file instead by uncomment these two lines

RUN /usr/local/bin/linuxdeploy --appdir /AppDir --output appimage                                                                                                                                             
RUN /usr/local/bin/appimagetool --appimage-extract-and-run /AppDir /output/OpenCloud-Desktop-Client-aarch64.AppImage

But I get this error:

-- Running output plugin: appimage -- 
ERROR: Could not find plugin: appimage 
Error: building at STEP "RUN /usr/local/bin/linuxdeploy --appdir /AppDir --output appimage": while running runtime: exit status 1

I am thinking to if we could add support Appimage and deb package as well as an options.

Hi @sallyhaj , I agree with you. Maybe instead of AppImages Flatpaks would be better, since the handling of updates is easier with them. To figure out what kind of error you ran into, would take me some time as well and I am currently writing another tool. But, maybe good news: If you were already able to get the output as you described, there should be a folder "bin" beside the .rpm file. in that folder you find the executable "opencloud". Normally you should be able to run this, independent of your distribution. To get later updates you would to go through the same procedure again. Does that work for you?

You are right @handtrixx, the most convenient package types is Flatpaks.
When I try to execute "opencloud" file which in 'bin' folder from outside that folder, I get this error:

./output/bin/opencloud
./output/bin/opencloud: error while loading shared libraries: libOpenCloudGui.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

However, moving to the same folder solves the "libOpenCloudGui.so" loading issue.
Then I cd output/bin and run ./opencloud again, but I get another library loading error ./opencloud: error while loading shared libraries: libkdsingleapplication-qt6.so.1.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
It seems that, the file libkdsingleapplication-qt6.so.1.1 is missing.

Update: I have downloaded kdsingleapplication-qt6-1.1.0-13.fc43.aarch64.rpm from https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=2760002 then extracted the file and copied libkdsingleapplication-qt6.so.1.1 libkdsingleapplication-qt6.so.1.1.0 from extracted usr/lib64 folder. That solved the loading library issue.
But that doesn't let the app to run, another issue came-up, when I run opencloud I get this error
Segmentation fault ./opencloud
I am not sure, but I think this might related to my kernel 16k page. I use this on Raspberry Pi 5.

Ok, I see. Thank you @sallyhaj for trying this out.
So, in summary:

• There is still no official Linux release other then an AppImage for amd64 arch.
• The official update procedure is not user friendly: you just get an info in the UI and need to download the appimage again and then set it up again.
• My approach to generate a rpm doesnt help users with others linux os'es and also doesnt bring version updates
• The current documentation and scripts created by me at https://github.com/handtrixx/opencloud-eu-desktop-arm64 are faulty/incomplete since @sallyhaj tried a lot, but still not running.
• Creating a pipeline with repositories for .deb and .rpm will cause too much effort.

That leads me to that I again will try:

1. To make it a flatpak app for amd64 and arm64
2. Bring it to Flathub for better update handling
   If none of that works out, at least there should be a working tutorial how to make the AppImage.

I have followed the new updated Debian installation app from your repo. It only missing one more package libre-graph-api-cpp-qt-client, everything else is okay. and I have the app installed. Thanks a lot..

Thank you @handtrixx for your efforts in making the app available for different platforms.
I have tried your Flatpak Local Build, but there was one package missing and wants to be installed sudo apt install elfutils everything after that went smoothly. I also tested the OpenCloud.flatpak by copying that file to other device and installing it, it works just fine.
I am going to try the Flathub and give the feedback as well.

Note: Even the local flatpak package is working just fine, there is two lines appears once I run the app:

flatpak run com.handtrixxx.OpenCloud
gui.main: Using "en_Latn_CA" translation "en_US"
gui.main: Could not load qtkeychain translations

@sallyhaj : Thanks a lot for testing on arm64, that saves me a lot of time. If you can run the Flatpak you are basically fine. I requested the upload to Flathub some days ago and wanted to surprise you and the community. Currently the package is in review by the Flathub auditors. Once available at Flathub users have the tool for both architectures, dont have to compile anything and can enjoy easy updates.
